Founder & CEO, POS Foundation
Jonathan Osei Owusu is the Founder and Executive Director of the POS Foundation (a human rights and youth development centered NGO). He is also the Vice Chairman of the Ghana Human Rights NGOs Forum and a member of the Steering Committee - Coalition on the Right To Information- RTI Ghana, an author and publisher with two books as well as other brochures and articles to his credit. Jonathan is trained in Development Leadership and human rights advocacy from the Coady International Institute of St. Francis Xavier University, Canada and has championed the redress of several human rights abuse cases through the Law Courts and the media. He facilitates/coordinates the State initiated ‘Justice For All Programme’ for remand prisoners aimed at decongesting the prisons. Jonathan focuses on advocacy, litigations, public education, and youth development. He was the 2nd Vice President for the Federation of Youth Associations of Ghana for three years.
As a Human Rights advocate, Jonathan has made oral submissions to the UN Human Rights Committee in Geneva and coordinated the submission of 10 thematic reports from over 70 Civil Society Organizations (CSO) in Ghana, towards the UN Universal Periodic Review (UPR). Jonathan is tagged by many as very passionate, and though young is masterful with respect to his 11 years working experience on the Civil Society front.
