Founder and Director at Kurema, Kureba, Kwiga
Judith Kaine blends strategy and creativity in the cross cutting domains of public health, public education, and public art. She has catalyzed numerous social impact programs focusing on project design and management, system strengthening, and the use of creativity for development.
She is the founder and director of Rwanda's preeminent Public Arts organization: Kurema Kureba Kwiga [in English: To Create, To See, To Learn]. The Kigali-based social enterprise focuses on taking art out of the gallery and into the streets to engage communities in color, creativity, and critical thinking towards positive social change. Through innovative public and private partnerships, the organization has reached all corners of the country, carrying out 70+ projects in 4 years, building unique collaborations with more than 40 visual artists, both from the region and from across the globe. Kurema's work has featured in Canal+, El Pais, Wired Magazine Japan, Design Indaba, and the East African, amongst others, as well as a forthcoming Phaidon Book publication on world-wide, site specific art.
Judith's interdisciplinary career has taken shape over 15 years of public and private sector work in the United States, East and West Africa, and the Caribbean. She holds a Masters in Public Health and a Masters of International Affairs from Columbia University.
