Africa regional Knowledge & Innovation advisor United Nations Development Program (UNDP)
Marc has worked in the knowledge and innovation for development context since 1998.
Marc is currently the UNDP Knowledge & Innovation advisor for Africa, based at the UNDP Regional Centre, in Addis Ababa. From Addis, Marc advises the 46 countries under the UNDP Africa region to develop, sustain and implement innovative initiatives. Co-managing the UNDP Africa innovation fund, Marc provides policy guidance to countries interested to develop innovation activities.
Prior to this UNDP position, Marc worked as Uganda Country Manager for the International Institute for Communication and Development (IICD). He was previously based in Nairobi, providing support to the national ICT strategy formulation in Somalia, to network of telecenters in Kenya, to community centres in slum areas, among others. Marc previously worked as Regional Director for Africa and Middle East of a Canadian international NGO working in ICT for Development. In this position, Marc established new programs in Africa and provided support to existing ones in the Middle East.
Previously, Marc has spent 7 years with UNDP in the area of Knowledge for development. His last UNDP position was deputy regional coordinator for ICTDAR, the UNDP programme on ICT for Development in the Arab region.
Marc’s areas of expertise include telecom and ICT policies development, knowledge management, capacity building in the fields of knowledge, ICT management and regulations issues.
