Before moving back to his native country of Rwanda, Philippe was based in Toronto, Canada as a freelance photographer where he had spent 10 years studying and working. Having had his work featured in local magazines, covering many fashion shows and working with a few renowned photographers in Toronto’s high-end fashion industry, Philippe decided to relocate to Rwanda to rediscover his country and his continent and to contribute to an ever-growing creative industry. As Co-Founder of and Director, Visual Content for Illume Creative Studio, Philippe has taken the role of expanding the video and photography aspect of the business while pushing the art of photography to new levels. He is author of a photography book called "This is Rwanda" and his work has taken him around the country and region and provided him with the opportunity to visually translate projects into content. Philippe’s first publication is only the beginning of what he hopes is a lifelong journey of discovering and rediscovering Africa and having the world fall in love with the continent through his photography.
